Whipsaw receives Good Design Australia award for Cisco Meraki MV Camera Line
Whipsaw has received a highly-regarded Good Design Australia award for its design of the Cisco Meraki MV Camera Line. These indoor and outdoor security cameras can be ceiling or wall mounted for use in places like offices, schools and retail stores. They boast onboard video processing and storage, and analyze content continuously. Not only are they technically superior, but their elegance and approachability also represents a departure from public cameras’ use of harsh and intimidating aesthetics. Whipsaw’s disruptive design features an unexpected fine bowl form filled with a glossy lens cover. The Meraki camera line won in Good Design Australia’s product design commercial and industrial category in recognition for its outstanding design and innovation.
“Good Design Australia is one of the world’s most respected programs, so it’s an honor to win this award. These types of commercial products often lack good design, so a big thanks goes to our client Cisco-Meraki for believing in our vision of simple elegance combined with utmost functionality, and an unwavering commitment to quality execution,” said Dan Harden, CEO & Principal Designer, Whipsaw Inc.
This year’s jury was composed of more than 55 members called upon to evaluate a record-breaking 835 project submissions. The 2020 jury calls the Meraki line “a sleek user-oriented security camera,” and notes, “The designers carefully understood the personas and use cases that interact with such a product. The physical design has a subdued aesthetic and the ethical choice to forgo facial recognition is an impactful choice made by the designers. ”
Good Design Australia previously honored Whipsaw with a Gold medal for its design of Tonal.
